Praying for Zimbabwe

I had hoped that the UN security council would put santions on Robert Mugabe and his cronies in Zimbabwe this week, but it was not to be. I will keep praying and hoping for a peaceful solution for the people suffering there. The two parties are supposed to be meeting here in Johannesburg this weekend to come to some solution. We had wanted to go there soon, but won't until we see what will happen. Meanwhile the refugees keep pouring into South Africa over the border-about 70,000 in the last two weeks. Whole families are now coming. One would think that South Africa would be pushing hard for a solution. Sometimes I wonder if someday people will make a film along the lines of Hotel Rwanda and then we will wonder how the world could let the situation get so bad before anyone intervened.

Laying in the Sun

My cat is laying in the sun spot on the carpet. It's interesting to watch, because as the sun moves, the square of sun on the carpet moves and so if he wants to continue to be in the sun, he has to move. I imagine that he sometimes gets annoyed at this inconvenience. But the sun doesn't pay any attention, it just keeps moving across the sky. Such is life.
